Six Weeks in Bali: Our August 2026 Buying Trip
Grab a coffee, get comfortable, and come along with us for a bit. We've just returned from six wonderful weeks in Bali, and honestly? Our hearts are still a little bit on the island.
Six Weeks, One Island, One Big Family

Six weeks sounds like a long time, and it is — but on Bali it flies. This trip we sat down for more than 40 conversations with suppliers. Some of them we've known for years now, and walking back into their workshops feels a lot like coming home. Others were brand new to us: families we met for the first time, welcomed with a smile, a cup of tea, and always a story to tell.
That's the part we love most and can never quite put into words. Behind every basket, every lamp, every cushion cover there's a person and a family. This trip reminded us all over again why we do this.
1,000 Kilometres on Two Wheels

So how do we actually reach all those workshops? By scooter! To visit every supplier and place every order, we’re out on the road across the island almost every single day. In three weeks we cover around 1,000 kilometres — an enormous distance on an island as small as Bali.

To do all that safely, we of course ride with our official Indonesian driving licences — for both car and motorbike. It’s the little things behind the scenes that let us focus on what really matters: finding the most beautiful pieces for you.
More Than 300 New Treasures

By the time we packed up, we'd chosen over 300 different products — and many thousands of pieces in total. Four years of running the shop online has taught us a lot, and it shows. We know your taste better than ever now, and we listen closely to everything you tell us on socials. Every comment and message helps us pick better.

We also bought smartly this time, which means something important for you: even with everything going on in the world, we've been able to keep our prices friendly in both Spain and Portugal. The most beautiful handmade pieces, for every budget. That's a promise we take seriously.
We Lived Up to Our Name

We're called Home Deco Bali for a reason, and this trip we really leaned into it. Decoration was by far our biggest collection this round — piece after piece we simply couldn't leave behind. And of course we came home with gorgeous new lamps and a whole fresh range of cushion covers too.
The Pre-Order Surprise — Wow

Here's the story we didn't quite see coming. For the first time, we tested letting you pre-order products while we were still in Bali. And… well, we certainly found out how that goes!
You ordered like never before. Sitting on the island, watching the orders roll in, feeling all your excitement from a distance — it genuinely made our trip. We actually sold out of things and had to go back to our suppliers to buy more. Surfboards, cushion covers, lamps — you loved absolutely everything this time:
✨ Surfboards that flew out faster than we could restock
✨ Cushion covers in fresh new prints and textures
✨ Handwoven lamps in natural materials
✨ And so many decoration pieces we had to reorder on the spot

So we can already call pre-selling a real success — and it's here to stay. And don't worry: it keeps going. Your new pieces will arrive in Spain in December.
From Bali to Your Home, Done Properly
Here’s something we’re quietly proud of: everything we’ve bought this time is fully certified. Our official exporter in Denpasar, Bali takes care of all the necessary certificates, and together with customs they make sure everything leaves Indonesia exactly as it should.
And when our container arrives in Valencia, the same care continues: a professional partner there handles fast customs clearance and the proper declaration of all our new products. From a little workshop in Bali to your living room in Spain or Portugal — every step is looked after.
Something New: Big Pieces, Straight to Your Home

There's one more thing we're trying out. We're beginning to offer large and heavy items online — the kind of pieces we usually kept off the shop until now.
Picture a truly exclusive SUAR wood table in your home. You can now buy it right from the website. The one catch: it needs to be picked up near Alicante. Not close by? No problem at all — you can always arrange a transport company to collect it for you.
If this works out the way we hope, it means one big thing: all of our furniture goes back online. Fingers crossed!
New Materials We Fell in Love With
Part of the joy of every trip is discovering new natural materials. You already know our favourites — water hyacinth, SUAR wood, alang-alang grass, seagrass, banana leaf, and of course bamboo and rattan. But this order brought some exciting newcomers:
✨ Coconut — and especially the outer shell of the nut — which you’ll see in a brand-new collection of lamps.
✨ Tree bark — combed into fine strands it almost looks like hair, and it makes for truly stunning lamps too.
✨ A new kind of decorative stick made from a type of teak branch: fast-growing, light in colour and a full two metres tall. We bought 100 of them — gorgeous in a rattan vase.
Keep an eye out — you’ll already spot several of these new pieces on our site.
Already Dreaming of Lombok

We can't sit still for long. The next buying trip is already on the calendar, and this time we're adding a new stop: the beautiful island of Lombok. We have zero doubt we'll find something special there too — and we can't wait to bring it back for you.

Thank you for coming along on this one. For the orders, the messages, the enthusiasm — all of it. It really does feel like a big family, and you're part of it.
Until next time. 🌴
Thank you for being part of this magical journey.
From Bali to Spain, with love. 🌺🇮🇩➡️🇪🇸
