Our last morning in Bali

Our Last Morning in Bali

A letter from the family

A quiet moment on our last morning in Bali

I'm writing this to you on our very last morning in Bali. In a little while we'll hand back the rented scooters, zip up the bags and begin the long way home — a door-to-door journey of some thirty hours back to our beloved Spain. But before we go, we wanted to sit down one more time, with the island still around us, and tell you how it all went. Because — we can already say it — we did it again.

Six weeks, one island, one big family

Visiting the families who make our pieces

Six weeks. It sounds like forever, and yet it flew by. Every one of those days was needed to choose everything with care, the way we always do — in person, from the first handshake to the last. We crossed the island again and again: back to the families we've worked with for years, whose workshops now feel like coming home, and onward to makers we'd never met, welcomed each time with a smile and a story.

That's the part we can never quite put into words. Behind every basket, every lamp, every carved bowl there is a person and a family. This trip reminded us, all over again, exactly why we do this.

We did it again

So many treasures chosen this trip

And what a haul it turned out to be. More than 30 suppliers are now busy making our order — together over 3,000 pieces, in more than 300 different kinds. We have never, in a single trip, bought so many different treasures. There's a good reason we need a full 40-foot high-cube container to carry it all home: within a week of this letter, it sets sail for Spain.

Packing up the new collection

We bought carefully, too — and that means something for you. Even with everything going on in the world, we've managed to keep our prices friendly in both Spain and Portugal. The most beautiful handmade pieces, for every budget: that's a promise we take seriously.

You were right there with us

A glimpse of everyday beauty on the island

If it felt like you were travelling along with us, that's because you were. Our friends on Facebook and Instagram followed the whole trip almost live — day after day of little visits to shops, workshops and the plain, ordinary beauty of Bali. We wanted you to look over our shoulder and see what it really takes to bring these pieces all the way to our warehouse in Spain.

Another stop on our island route

Every comment, every message, every little heart you sent helped us choose better. You have become part of how we shop — and part of this whole adventure.

This year, in the spirit of renewal

New finds for the shop

Home Deco Bali started small, but a buying trip this size asks for real care and precision. So this year we leaned into something new: we introduced AI, and honestly, we now use it just about everywhere. It makes everything run more smoothly — it helps us keep you better informed through the shop before, during and after a purchase, and we lean on it happily on our socials too.

Here's the one that still makes us smile. It let us offer a product for pre-order in our online shop within five minutes of buying it here in Bali. Five minutes! It amazed us — and it certainly amazed our Balinese friends.

Home Deco Bali authenticity seal

A seal we're proud of

Authentic, handmade, chosen in person

This trip also carried a quiet milestone. We recently created our own authenticity seal, and we use it with pride to say, one more time, that what we offer truly lives up to the mission we set out with. We see it in every single piece we sell — and we hope, when your parcel arrives, you'll see it too.

From an almost-joke to a real company

Four years on, still going

What began four years ago as an idea — I'd almost say as a bit of a joke — has grown into a real company. And every single day we still catch ourselves realising how lucky we are to get to do this, and to share it all with you.

The long way home

Getting everything ready for the journey home

And so, on this last morning, we return the scooters and turn towards the airport. We do this whole thing personally, from the very first moment to the very last — right up to the parcel arriving at your door. It's slower and it's more work, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

“We are committed to bringing authentic Balinese products to Spain and Portugal. Our team personally visits local families in Bali and selects each piece for its authenticity and the quality of its materials.”
Until next time, Bali

We hope you'll keep supporting us — and the wonderful people here in Bali — by giving our little treasures a home. We promise to keep looking for the very most beautiful pieces the island has to offer. The time here flew by, our hearts are still a little on the island, and we honestly can't wait to show you everything.

Until the next time.

Warmly, from the Bali family,
Marco, Rick, Ingrid & Lisette

I’ve absolutely loved following your Bali trip over the last six weeks, it’s genuinely been so interesting seeing all the places you’ve visited and the beautiful things you’ve found. I’m actually going to miss the daily updates! 😂

And a huge thank you for going out of your way to source the carved wall piece for me after I spotted it hiding in the background of one of your videos. I can’t wait for it to arrive in December. 😁

It looked like such an amazing trip!

Safe journey home. Kerrie x
