31 Days on the Island of the Gods: Our August 2025 Bali Treasure Hunt
Back in 2023, a two-week holiday on a little island in Indonesia quietly changed our lives. We came for the beaches and the temples, and we left completely in love with Bali — its people, its food, and above all the extraordinary craftsmanship hiding in every village workshop. That love became HomeDecoBali, and it keeps pulling us back.
This year we returned for our most ambitious buying trip yet: the entire month of August 2025, working our way across the Island of the Gods. Thirty-one days. Countless workshop visits. And more than 120 brand-new products selected, negotiated and packed — one by one — for our Bali Family.
A Month of Work, Not a Holiday
A month sounds like a luxury — and Bali is undeniably beautiful — but this trip was a working one from start to finish. Every morning began with a route, a wishlist and a target: which villages, which workshops, which makers.
Having the whole of August meant we could go deeper than ever. We returned to trusted artisans, tracked down new ones, inspected quality in person, and had the time to say yes to those rare one-off pieces that only surface when you're actually standing in the workshop.

Selecting Every Piece by Hand
We've never been the type to order from a catalogue. The whole point of what we do is being there — sitting with the makers, checking the joints and the weave, running our hands over the rattan, teak, seagrass and banana fibre, and choosing every single item ourselves.
It's slow work. A single afternoon can mean dozens of pieces examined and only a handful chosen. But that's exactly why the collection feels the way it does when it finally reaches you.

120+ New Treasures (and Counting)
The headline of this trip? More than 120 brand-new products chosen especially for you. Across August we said yes to:
✨ Handwoven lampshades in fresh shapes and natural materials
✨ Characterful teakwood furniture, no two pieces alike
✨ Baskets, mirrors and pottery with beautiful organic textures
✨ Artisanal home decor made in small batches
✨ And a handful of true one-of-a-kind finds we could only bring home in tiny quantities
Every one of these new models is now being prepared for its journey to Spain — and eventually, we hope, to your home.

The People Behind Every Piece
Buying well in Bali isn't really about haggling — it's about relationships. Many of the workshops we visit have been working with us for years now, and those partnerships are what make the quality and the consistency possible.
Time is what builds that trust: sitting down together, talking through what worked last season, planning new designs, and making sure the people who craft these pieces are treated fairly. Those conversations never appear on a price tag, but they're woven into everything we bring back.

Packing Up and Coming Home
By the end of August, our order books were full and so were the crates. Now the next chapter begins back in Spain: photographing, cataloguing and lovingly preparing all 120+ new treasures so you can be the first to welcome them home.
Keep an eye on the shop over the coming weeks — something beautiful is on its way, and as always, our Bali Family gets the very first look.

Until next time, Bali. 31 days, 120+ treasures, and a whole lot of work well worth doing.
Thank you for being part of this magical journey.
From Bali to Spain, with love. 🌺🇮🇩➡️🇪🇸
